Hey everybody, I've noticed there are some discrepancies between how the wiki, scanlators, and the anime translate multiple characters' names. Most notably Jiling, which seems to get corrected by a well-meaning person every few weeks.
There are currently no official translations of the Ousama Ranking characters' names. Tooka-sensei has never published his preferred romanizations for them, and (by his own admission) he has not been involved in the production of the anime.
Unfortunately when you're translating between different written languages, like Japanese to English, there's a lot of room for interpretation.
For example: The anime translates the character named デスハー as Desha, which sounds right because most Japanese words end on a vowel sound. However, the characters ハー are traditionally transliterated as an "ar" or "er" sound in English, which would make him Desher.
No character is safe from this interpretation either. Nearly every source has agreed to transliterate the name ボッジ as "Bojji", but his name actually translates to a real english word: Bodge. Nobody likes that though, because to "bodge" something literally means to mess it up. His name is basically "mess up".
So yeah, some of the names seem weird here, but until Tooka-sensei writes otherwise I think we should just leave them as-is.
