The Bosse Kingdom (sometimes called The Kingdom of Bosse) is a large, prosperous overworld kingdom in the universe of Ousama Ranking. It was founded by (and named after) King Bosse roughly 10-14 years ago, just after the birth of Prince Bojji.

History[]

The exact location of the Bosse Kingdom is unclear, but it appears to be in a verdant, mountainous region. It has one capital city and abundant farmland. It is somewhat near a coastline, which is visible from the highest towers of the castle.

An enormous stone border wall runs along the outskirts of the kingdom, separating it from the exterior wilds. The outskirts of the kingdom are filled with stone ruins.

Fortified village (pre-Bosse Kingdom)

The Bosse kingdom used to be a monster-infested region with one fortified village.

Prior to its founding the Bosse Kingdom was an unaffiliated territory. It contained at least one fortified village that was being menaced by a tribe of monsters. Bosse, a giant adventurer, defeated the monster tribe and, upon learning his first son Bojji had been born in the village, declared that he would end his wandering and found a kingdom at that location.

The Bosse Kingdom is considered exceptionally prosperous for an overworld kingdom, and under Bosse's leadership it was the 7th ranked kingdom in the world.

Notable Residents[]

King Bosse[]

The #7 ranked king in the world and the world's strongest man, Bosse is a member of the giant race who was a storied adventurer before founding his kingdom. There is much more to him than meets the eye, and he has kept deep secrets from the rest of his court.

Queen Sheena[]

Bosse's first wife and Bojji's mother. Like Bosse, Sheena was also a giant and an adventurer. She died during Miranjo's first attempted coup, before the start of the series.

Queen Hiling[]

Bosse's second wife, Daida's mother, and the current Queen of the Bosse Kingdom. Though human, Hiling possesses supernatural healing powers. She has a stern presence, but cares deeply for the people around her, including Bojji.

Prince Bojji[]

The first-born son of King Bosse and crown prince of the Bosse Kingdom. Bojji was born abnormally small, weak, and deaf. In spite of this Bojji is an exceptionally-resilient, dedicated young prince who continues to fight to inherit the Bosse Kingdom.

Prince Daida[]

The second-born son of King Bosse and the current King of the Bosse Kingdom. Daida was born physically fit and healthy. He was chosen to officially succeed King Bosse, being seen as a better candidate than his older brother Bojji.

When Daida succeeded his father as king the Bosse Kingdom's ranking was dropped from 7th to roughly 90th.

The Big Four[]

Four highly-ranked officers and advisors to the Bosse Kingdom, appointed by King Bosse himself. It is unclear if the Big Four (currently composed of Domas, Bebin, Apeas, and Dorshe) are a chivalric order, a rank of nobility, or just an informal designation within the Bosse Kingdom.

Each member also possesses an informal, personal title bestowed on them by Bosse. These titles tend to describe the duties and/or abilities of each member. Apeas is the "King's Spear", Dorshe is the "Queen's Shield", Domas is the "Swordmaster", and Bebin is the "Snake Master".

In practice each of the Big Four seems to be charged with protecting one specific member of the royal family, and all serve as advisors on the King's council. Bebin has the additional duty of being the Bosse Kingdom's spymaster.

Translation Note: A more direct translation of the Big Four is, "Four Heavenly Kings" (Japanese: 四天王). However, most translators choose to avoid this translation, as it can be confusing to western readers. "Four Heavenly Kings" is a reference to four Buddhist protective deities, and has been used historically by Japanese rulers to refer to their top generals. The implication is that Bosse's "Heavenly Kings" are his senior generals and advisors.

Prime Minister Sorii[]

The Prime Minister of the Bosse Kingdom who worked closely with King Bosse, Sorii is a man known for his excellent judgment and decision-making skills. He handles the day-to-day governance of the Bosse Kingdom, and sits on the king's council along with the Big Four, Hiling, and Sandeo.

Minister of Justice Sandeo[]

The Minister of Justice of the Bosse Kingdom, Sandeo's title implies that he administers the investigative agencies and legal system of the Bosse Kingdom (assuming those exist). Relatively little is known about his character, but he was one of the council members who voted for Bojji to succeed King Bosse (alongside Apeas). He sits on the King's council with the Big Four, Hiling, and Sorii.

Kage[]

A recent transplant to the Bosse Kingdom from the Bo Kingdom, Kage is a member of the Shadow clan who was driven from his original home by a persecution. He is Bojji's first friend and was appointed his secret bodyguard by Bebin.

Miranjo[]

A mysterious advisor and long time companion to King Bosse, Miranjo appears to be something like a court wizard, though she has a very complicated relationship with the Bosse Kingdom. At some point in the past she attempted to stage a coup using an army of sentient monsters, and though the coup ultimately failed Queen Sheena was killed in the final confrontation.

Miranjo was believed to have died in her coup as well, only to return many years later as the Magic Mirror. As the Magic Mirror she became a constant advisor to Prince Daida, manipulating him to her own ends, and ultimately fomenting another coup in the Bosse Kingdom.

After the events in Miranjo's second coup in the kingdom she has become Daida's wife.
