Desha (デスハー, Desuha) is a character in Ousama Ranking and its anime adaption. He is the king of the Underworld and was ranked the #2 king in the world for many years until unforeseen circumstances causes him to be #1 king in the world.

He currently has no recollection of who he is because of the gift he chose from the vault.

Appearance[]

Desha is a large man with shoulder-length black hair, pallid skin, a pointed face, pointed teeth, and a thin black moustache. He wears purple and gold vestments, as well as a tall golden crown of unique design.

Personality[]

Desha is a jaded, disinterested man who enjoys novelty. After meeting Bojji and Kage by chance, the only reason he allowed them to speak with him was to relieve his own boredom. In spite of his attitude Desha is an extremely powerful king, ranked #2 in the world. He is also shown to be very beloved by his subjects, to which he is a fair and reasonable ruler.

He has a sour relationship with his younger brother, Despa, supposedly due to his envy of Despa's good looks (according to Despa). However, this lack of camaraderie doesn't prevent the two from working together in serious situations.

Desha is not above being opportunistic or retaliatory, and used the turmoil in the Bosse Kingdom, along with their secret portal to the Underworld, as an excuse to invade.

Plot[]

A legendary king and #2 in the Rankings for many years, Desha first encountered Bojji and Kage when the two were found passed-out near the entrance to the Underworld. Amused by their weakness, Desha briefly spoke with them before casting them out of his castle, but allowing them to remain in his kingdom.

Later, Desha instantly sensed when Miranjo used her magic to free several Underworld prisoners, taking it as an excuse to declare war on the Bosse Kingdom. Desha chose to split his army in two, one detachment approaching the Bosse Kingdom above ground, where they would help subdue the prisoners and secure the Bosse Kingdom's capital city, and the other using Miranjo's Underworld portal to attack the castle from below.

Desha personally lead the detachment that used the portal, while Despa lead the detachment tasked with securing Ouken.

Immediately after crossing over Desha encountered Domas and Hokuro, on their mission to destroy the Underworld portal. Though the two managed to slow the advance of Desha's army, they were easily out-classed by the powerful king. The tables turned with the arrival of Bojji, Kage, and Gigan, who started a standoff with Desha's army.

Ultimately Desha willingly retreated to the Underworld with a newly-knighted Gigan, after secretly consulting with his brother Despa. This appears to be part of a larger plan the two have to capture the Demon.

Desha remained in the Underworld during the remainder of the events in the Bosse Kingdom, though he assisted Despa several times by sending his lightning bolts to attack enemies.

Toward the tail-end of the confrontation, Desha was shown meeting with a judge, and accepting his new rank as the #1 king in the world. Not one to waste time, Desha immediately ordered that he be taken to the Divine Treasure Vault.

After entering the vault he decides to use his treasure to save his brother, choosing a Demon girl who heals his brother by giving Ouken his humanity and mortality back, but in exchange Desha loses his memories.

Relationships[]

Despa[]

Desha and Despa do not get along. Despa considers his brother a heartless ogre for what transpired during Desha's revolution, and Desha considers Despa a pompous and grating person. Still, the two have a grudging respect for one another, and don't hesitate to help each other further the interests of the Underworld.

Despa seems to act as a direct emissary for Desha when the king can't be present, suggesting a deep level of trust between the brothers.

Ouken[]

Desha appeared to have a much more affable relationship with his youngest brother, Ouken. Though little was shown, Desha appreciated that Ouken remained in the revolution after Despa angrily stormed off, and felt deep pity for his brother upon learning he had developed immortality.

Much of Desha's reign has been spent seeking a cure for Ouken's immortality. He and Despa have conspired to capture the Demon and use its magic to rid Ouken of his curse.

Abilities[]

Demigod[]

Desha is a Demigod, or a God-human hybrid. He inherited most of his father's power, which manifests in him as extremely powerful magic, strength, and intuition. Like other magic-users he is also able to sense other beings' magic, including Miranjo's portal to the Underworld.

Lightning Magic[]

A devastatingly powerful form of magic recognized by the Order of the Underworld as belonging to King Desha. One bolt of Desha's lightning magic was able to completely knock out the immortal Ouken.

Communication Magic[]

Desha is capable of communicating with his younger brother, Despa, over long distances. He does so by speaking into his own cupped hand.
