Domas (ドーマス, Domasu) is a character in Ousama Ranking and its anime adaption. He is one of the Big Four of the Bosse Kingdom, known as "Swordmaster". He was Bojji's original swordsmanship instructor.

Appearance[]

Domas is a tall man with shoulder-length, red-blond hair and brown eyes. He wears a long, light blue tunic cinched with an even lighter blue belt, khaki pants, and knee-high black boots.

Domas has lost his dominant hand from the wrist-down, and has replaced it with an articulated metal hand of unknown origin. This hand is similar to a plate mail gauntlet, and is affixed to Domas' wrist by unknown means.

Personality[]

Domas is dedicated and well-intentioned, but also arrogant, easily-lead, stubborn, and a bit thick-headed. He deeply idolizes King Bosse, to the point where he based his personal sword-style on Bosse's overwhelming, physically-dominant fighting style.

The qualities that allowed Domas to become a master swordsman and one of the Big Four are, paradoxically, the same qualities that make him a very poor teacher. His stubbornness and inflexibility meant that he couldn't adapt his teachings to Bojji, and indeed Bojji seems to have learned very little from him in spite of his years of dedicated teaching. However, that same dedication allowed Domas to quickly master sign language, and become one of the few members of court who could communicate with Bojji as well.

Similar to Hiling, as he grew accustomed to Bojji's disabilities Domas also became colder and more distant, unable to cope with his feelings of personal failure over Bojji's lack of growth.

Domas previously put loyalty to the king above all else, even his own moral compass. This ultimately lead to him being manipulated into attempting to assassinate Bojji, an act he immediately and deeply regretted.

He appears to be the youngest and newest of the Bosse Kingdom's Big Four, because of this he is ignorant of the kingdom's early history, and does not know of Lady Miranjo.

Plot[]

Domas is the Swordmaster of the Big Four and Bojji's original swordsmanship instructor. After the death of Bosse, Domas quickly found himself caught up in the various plots consuming the Bosse Kingdom, and was ordered to kill Bojji by the newly-crowned King Daida. Ultimately Domas attempted to follow this order, though he immediately regretted it.

Forced to face what he had done by Hokuro (a guardsman accompanying him on his journey), Domas first pretended to have no regrets, only to later sacrifice his own dominant hand in penance while fighting with Hokuro.

Still at-odds with the young guardsman, Domas allowed Hokuro to return to the Bosse Kingdom to report what had happened, only to secretly follow and save Hokuro from his own execution. During the chaos of their escape, the two encountered King Bosse reincarnated into the body of Daida. Bosse gave the two men a secret mission: Destroy Miranjo's Underworld portal, located deep below the Bosse Kingdom's castle.

While attempting to complete their mission, Domas and Hokuro encountered King Desha and a detachment of the Order of the Underworld, who had used the portal to invade the Bosse Kingdom's castle. Domas resolves to hold them off himself.

Abilities[]

Master Swordsman[]

Domas is a genius swordsman who has mastered the blade and created his own sword style. This style was modeled after the physically-dominant, unrelenting fighting style of King Bosse himself. Bosse was so impressed by Domas' swordsmanship that he made Domas a member of the Big Four, and appointed him Bojji's personal sword instructor.

Even after losing his dominant hand, Domas remains a masterful swordsman. He has acquired an articulated metal hand to replace the one he lost, and seems to have adapted to it easily.
