Geslan (ゲスラン, Gesuran) is a character in Ousama Ranking and its anime adaption. He was a nobleman of the Bo Kingdom who participated in the politically-motivated genocide of the Shadow clan.
After the fall of the Bo Kingdom Geslan seized control of the territory and established his own kingdom, which appears to be as cruel and ruthless as himself. He reigns as its first king, his rule cemented by an alliance with a dark God.
Appearance[]
Geslan is a tall, thin man with an exceptionally narrow build. He has blond hair styled in a pageboy cut, beady eyes, a very large nose, a large pointed chin, and large white teeth.
Personality[]
Geslan is an extremely unpleasant, sadistic person who took enormous joy in slaughtering the people of the Shadow clan. This is further supported by conditions in his own kingdom, where most of the populace has been enslaved by the ruling class.
Plot[]
Pogrom of the Shadow Clan[]
Years ago, nobles of the Bo Kingdom conspired to assassinate the King of Bo and frame the Shadow clan for his murder. The assassination ultimately failed, but the noblemen continued with their plan to shift blame onto the Shadow clan anyway.
Geslan led a militia that hunted and executed members of the Shadow clan, personally seeing to the execution of numerous members. It's unknown how many people Geslan's militia killed, but Kage's Mother was among them.
A New Kingdom[]
The Bo Kingdom fell sometime after Kage's escape. Geslan survived the slaughter of most of the kingdom's citizens and went on to seize control of the survivors, founding the Geslan Kingdom.
Geslan retained control of the Light Clan through the fall of the Bo Kingdom, and made them an integral part of his plans. Capitalizing on his recent genocide of the Shadow clan, Geslan used the inherent magic of the clan members' bodies to create numerous portals in every direction. These portals allowed the Geslan Kingdom's fledgling military to quickly invade and conquer weaker neighbors, dramatically increasing the size of their territory in just a few short years.
In spite of its expansive territory and apparent wealth, the Geslan Kingdom is a miserable place to live, and much of the population appears to be enslaved.
At some point in the past Geslan made contact, and formed a working relationship, with the depraved God Zaki. Zaki's terrifying powers further cemented Geslan's rule, and now the Geslan Kingdom stands as a significant and growing power in the world.
Relationships[]
Zaki[]
A great mystery surrounding now-King Geslan is his relationship to the dark God Zaki. It seems clear Geslan is using Zaki's power to assert his rule over his people, but it's unknown how they came to meet or why a God would agree to an alliance with a human.
Abilities[]
Competent Leadership[]
Unfortunately, Geslan appears to have been a competent militia leader, and is suspected to have murdered many members of the Shadow clan. This has carried over to his rule of the Geslan Kingdom, where Geslan was able to take control of the survivors of the massacred Bo Kingdom and quickly reform them into a powerful military force.
King[]
Geslan was able to establish his own kingdom after the fall of the Bo Kingdom. Geslan does not appear to have the strength to do this the traditional way, and it's unclear how he was able to accomplish this.
