Gigan (J, J) is a character in Ousama Ranking and its anime adaption. "Monster of Steel" Gigan was a notorious traitor to King Desha's army. He was imprisoned in the Underworld until being freed by Miranjo.
Though initially an enormous threat to the Bosse Kingdom, Gigan was quickly subdued by Bojji, and pledged his loyalty to the prince. Soon after, he became involved in an altercation between Bojji and King Desha, which resulted in Gigan being absolved of his past crime and forcibly recruited into the Order of the Underworld.
Appearance[]
Gigan is a gigantes, a race of massive, orc-like monsters native to the Underworld. His people are at least twice as tall as the average human, with bright green skin, pale yellow eyes, and pointed teeth.
The gigantes race typically wears animal pelts, with Gigan in particular wearing dark brown animal pelts beneath a lighter brown battle harness, a red helmet with small pointed horns, and he wields an enormous, two-handed hammer.
Personality[]
A monster of few words and a hardened warrior, Gigan doesn't shy away from fighting, but has a personal sense of honor that sets him apart from the other Underworld prisoners. He seems to be moderately intelligent.
Plot[]
Underworld Revolution[]
Years ago Gigan was hired as a mercenary for then-Prince Desha's army, fighting to unseat Desha's father. Unfortunately the rest of the gigantes race allied with the old king, setting Gigan in opposition to his own people.
Desha's army committed war crimes in order to combat the gigantes, including torturing gigantes children in order to bait gigantes soldiers. After personally witnessing the depravity of his own squad, Gigan rebelled and wiped out the squadron of soldiers with his bare hands, causing heavy losses before being subdued.
In spite of their losses Desha's army won, and a victorious Desha sentenced Gigan to imprisonment in the Underworld dungeons. Gigan remained there until being freed by Miranjo to conquer the Bosse Kingdom.
Attempted Coup of the Bosse Kingdom[]
Initially allied with Miranjo and the Underworld prisoners, Gigan proved to be an enormous threat on the battlefield. He alone was able to wipe out half of Queen Hilling's personal guard, and managed to temporarily subdue a master combatant like Dorshe (though Dorshe was already exhausted at the time). Gigan was even able to defeat the giant snake Mitsumata with only his monstrous strength.
The tables turned for Gigan when Bojji entered the battle. Using his new form of swordsmanship, Bojji easily subdued Gigan. After being beaten twice in short order, Gigan bowed his head to Bojji and formally acknowledged Bojji's strength, swearing his loyalty to the young prince.
Now an ally, Gigan assisted Bojji and Kage as they rushed to meet Desha's forces, which had just breached the Bosse Kingdom's basement via Miranjo's portal to the Underworld.
Order of the Underworld Recruitment[]
After a brief altercation with the Order of the Underworld, King Desha, Domas, Hokuro, and Bojji, Gigan was formally inducted into the Order. Desha decided that Gigan represented the values the Order's founder wished for all knights to have. The Underworld forces then took their leave, the full Order returning to the Underworld, including Gigan.
