Summary[]
The Law of the Underworld[]
Visiting King Desha in his castle throne room, Fren offers his services to Desha in finding the Demon needed to cure Ouken of his Immortality Disease. However, Desha denies the offer because it goes against the law if a monster like Fren leaves the Underworld.
Later, Fren meets with three off-duty soldiers who enjoy themselves at a bar; he treats them to a round of drinks. The following day, it's learned that Fren has left the Underworld, and by the law of the Underworld, he'll be executed when found. The three soldiers that Fren treated would later visit Despa, and learn about Ouken's condition, and the situation surrounding Fren. Asking for Despa's help, Despa agrees to help them on the condition that he's not mentioned as helping them in their endeavor.
The following day, Knights in the Order of the Underworld ride throughout town and are ambushed by the three soldiers acting as brigands. Elsewhere, Fren continues searching for information regarding locating a Demon and is soon found by the Order of the Underworld Knights. The brigands then rescue him, and Fren recognizes one of them as Aban, and they all fight against the Knights. Amid the fight, the Captain seemingly kills Fren and Aban; however, this is a stage to allow Fren and his friends to escape.
A flashback reveals that Aban begged the Captain to call off his hunt of Fren and explained Fren's motives to save Ouken. In the present, Fren continues his search for a Demon treading through many lands. Eventually, Fren visits Despa and informs him that the single lead he's found concerning the location of a Demon was a woman who underwent a Demon's curse in Bosse Kingdom. After detailing his finding to Despa, Fren turns to Desha, who orders his exile instead of execution as the "real" Fren was already executed.
Despa would praise Desha for his decision, and Desha claimed he'd do anything to save Ouken.
A White Horse in Love[]
When Despa left the Underworld castle, he also had to part ways with his precious horse, Whiteking, and left her in the hands of the Captain. However, in Captain's care, he completely forgot about his responsibility of taking care of Whiteking, and because of his neglect, the horse gained a considerable amount of weight. Hence, Captain tries various methods to get Whiteking to lose weight, but fails every time.
Figuring out that Whiteking was in love with a black horse, Captain helps the newly motivated Whiteking lose weight. However, once this was accomplished, Whiteking was disheartened to learn that the black horse already had a lover and child. In a fit of rage, Whiteking attacks Captain and when it comes time for Despa to reclaim Whiteking for the invasion of the Bosse Kingdom, Whiteking had put back all of the weight it lost back on.
The Gentle Soldier, Hokuro[]
Hokuro, who lost his mother at a young age, decided to become a soldier of the Bosse Kingdom after Prince Bojji's kind gesture toward him. While led by his superior, Hokuro asks where Prince Bojji is, and the superior answers he's never shown himself to others due to his deaf nature. He'd then see Bojji admiring a praying mantis and, at another time while guarding an entranceway.
Eventually, news of King Bosse's death is announced, and Bojji is said to become the new King. Although a sad time, Hakuro was confident that Bojji would become an exemplary King and have his full support. Contrarily, Prince Daida would be announced as the next King, which shocks Hakuro and would see a pensive Bojji from afar.
When a volunteer soldier accompanying Bojji on a journey is needed, Hakuro immediately volunteers. However, one of the Big Four Domas denies him a worthy candidate after having a mock battle against him. To convince Domas and Queen Hilling of his plea, Hakuro demonstrates his sign language capability, and Queen Hilling allows Hakuro to assist in Bojji's journey.
